On Wednesday, June 14, 2023 the Denver Association of Business Economists will welcome John Carter to host a webinar on his perspective of the next steps for the banking industry. Recent U.S. bank failures, including those of Silicon Valley Bank, First Republic Bank, and Signature Bank, call into question the strength of the banking industry more broadly. How are Colorado banks faring under rapid interest rate hikes, as information flows more rapidly than ever, and with depositors poised to move their money with the click of a mouse? What culture, conditions, and climate face the banking system today? And what might the future hold? John Carter, a Colorado financial industry expert, will share his insights and experiences, drawing from over 30 years of experience in the industry.

John Carter has over 30 years of commercial banking experience with both direct and correspondent lending with a broad exposure to commercial and industrial lending, real estate, private banking and institutional lending, as well as Treasury management functions. Experienced with both making and collecting loans through 6 recessions, John passed the national Credit Risk Certification the first year the examination was offered (2004). John has experience in small banks such as OmniBank, in large institutional banks (KeyBank, Wells Fargo) and with over a decade of correspondent banking at Bankers’ Bank of the West which laid the foundation for his own company, Denver Banker, a unique source of quality credits suited for specific community banks and bankers.

John is active in the community through chambers, Innosphere, Rockies Venture Club, Keiretsu Forum TiE and was a founding member of the Denver Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth, where he has served in various leadership positions. John serves on the board as past president of the Risk Management Association Rocky Mountain Chapter and has remained active as a mentor and resource for bankers on credit risk for over 20 years.

A lifelong learner with a curious mind, John continuously seeks opportunities to learn about the latest developments in industry and strives to expand his knowledge in diverse fields. For more information or to contact John, visit: linkedin.com/in/johncarter-denverbanker
